Have you set any goals for the year 2009 the parents?
The New Year is a time for people to take stock and make plans for the coming years. A People often set personal or professional goals, but what you have in mind what you want your goal as a parent to be for 2009? What do you want to achieve in your relationship with your child this year? What would you do more with their children? What do less?
As our children grow and develop, never too late to reconsider our way of being with them and make changes to have even more love and fulfillment, while releasing the control and allows them to develop responsibility and independence. Here are seven ways to improve your relationship with your child, whether young or young. Maybe some of them can help you define your own goal of raising children for the next year.
1. Remind your child to respect more. What are the qualities that shine you? Tell about them.
2. Consider your listening to your child. Do you stop what you're doing and watch them when they speak? Do you allow them to express their views without interruption or support them?
3. Think about how to understand and know that their child. Do you know what is your favorite song or movie, for example? Did you know deep listening and encourage you to share your feelings?
4. Think about how you show your child that you appreciate them. Did you tell them? Spend time with them or give them hugs? Not infrequently they are given a little something without any condition?
5. Consider how to support your child. Do you support age-appropriate for physical, emotional, intellectual, economic and spiritual?
6. What are their current ways of encouraging responsible for your child? If you increase opportunities for them to do things for themselves as they age? Do you encourage your child to try new things and learn from their mistakes, with more emphasis in the effort rather than success?
7. Reflecting on the independence of their child. As they develop how will you ensure they get the independence of your country? If you let go little by little as they age?
Perhaps your goal as a parent for that year may be to keep learning. It's really one of the greatest gifts we can give our children – to learn more about them constantly as they grow and change and learn to keep pace with our role as parents. Here are some suggestions might consider reading a book or two parents of this year, remains on drugs if you have a teenager, or attend a workshop for parents and coach – a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow and be with other parents.
What you choose for your breeding goal for this year – one thing is certain – that because you care enough to think and plan your parents, your child will certainly benefit.
All the best for their parents in 2009 – can be a year of marriage of love and closeness between you and his son.

Spirit in Sport: Peak Performance & the Zone in Sport (from a World Champion & Olympian)
Spirit in Sport: peak performance & the zone in sport
Book Intro (Preface) By Fiona Taylor, 1992 Olympian, mystic, coach and former World Champion Windsurfer
“The board glides smoothly across the water. Under my feet the board feels light and responsive. It is purely an extension of me, there is no resistance. The sail is an extension of my upper body. It feels comfortable. The rig feels right. It responds effortlessly to the increase in wind. My body feels lean and strong. I love being on the water. I love being here. I have an inner knowing of all that is today. I am at home on the water. The wind, the waves and the water are my friends. I am at One with them. Unity. No hesitation – just inspiration A feeling of Lightness of being. Joy, a rush of energy as I accelerate in a 3 knot gust……… Whee. I am free. The six minute start signal is about to go. My timer is set for the 6 minute count down to the start. It is about the wind and me. There are other boards around. I know who they are, and I know that I know this place better than them and I will win this race. There is no doubt whatsoever. My focus is on just being in the moment.. I am not thinking. I am just feeling. Everything feels surreal, my focus is not on any ‘one thing’ but simply being at one with all that is. Intuitively I approach the line. I have already chosen where I want to start. No one is in my way. I have claimed my starting position. As I look up wind towards the top mark, the wind has remained steady. I have a race plan and I just know. I am just in the now moment. Bang – the start gun, with four pumps I am off the line with a clear start. I am fast, I feel fast as the board glides up wind…………… My focus is on being at one with the wind, as I round the top mark first. My focus is on feeling light and at one with the board. I am so far ahead now that I can still sail completely free, me and the wind, without needing to protect my position from the windsurfers behind me. This race is mine. I knew it was before the start…… I love windsurfing……I love just being out here on the ocean………..”
This was the natural state that I was in when I was spending every spare minute of my day at Davey’s Bay Yacht Club as a young teenager.
In 1983 I was a 12 year old who spent her entire summer either in the water swimming, snorkeling or in boats. My dad had introduced me to sailing as a young girl and had thrown me into a sabot which is about 7 feet in length with a small sail. It is the first boat usually that kids learn in. My sister and I used to call them ‘bath tubs’. Dad bought a sabot for my sisters and I to sail in and we called it ‘Bubbles’. Bubbles was a sturdy, heavy and slow sabot. I was the middle child of three girls and my older sister Anna was three years older than me, so she got to steer the boat, and I was the crew. I have a vivid memory of dad sending us of to sail in Sabot Week at Frankston Yacht Club when I was 9 years. The first race Anna and I spent arguing and fighting on which way to go and who was better at steering the boat. We were so engrossed in our own chaos that we had no awareness of the rest of the fleet. After some time a rescue boat drove up to us as told us that the race was finishing (as all the other boats were finishing) and that we had better head back to shore. We had not even made the first mark yet because we were absorbed in trying to get our own way in our boat. After that I realized that I really was more suited to sailing on my own, and was much happier that way, being my own person and making my own decisions. Soon after that when I was 12 the sport of windsurfing came along and it was the ‘new thing’ to do. In 1983 and 1984 more and more people at the yacht club and other clubs started windsurfing and there was soon a regular weekend windsurfing race that was attracting more people than sabot sailing.
Our good friends the Gold’s lent me their windsurfer and gave me my first go at it. I could hardly reach the boom when I first started, and as a 12 year old I had to use the adult equipment with larger sail, as the manufacturers had not yet made boards for kids. My fierce determination allowed me to overlook the bruises, cuts and sore hands to keep on trying to pull the sail up out of the water. I eventually did, thanks to the support from those on the beach who egged me on. The first time I managed to get going and glided along the surface of the water I was on a high. I only managed to go 20 meters before I fell off, but that was enough to get the feeling of it. I was hooked on the thrill of windsurfing across the water on my own.
It used to take me a long time to pull the sail out of the water because I was small, but once I got it up and going it all felt so natural to me. I had a natural feel for the board and the wind and by the end of that summer it just seemed to ‘click’ for me and I could sail in all directions, go where I wanted to go, and more importantly get back to the beach! I lost count of how many times I fell in, crashed, dropped the sail or got stuck out at sea needing to be rescued. One thing that worked for me was that I did not have any fear of the sea. We grew up 200 meters from the beach on the Mornington Peninsula and I learned to swim at an early age. In fact I felt more at home on or in the water, than on the land. At the end of that summer mum bought the family our first second hand windsurfer. But you can guess who used it most of the time. My poor sisters, mum and dad had to really work hard to get me away from it, and actually have a chance to use it. Soon all my friends and I at the yacht club were having fun, mucking around on windsurfers, trying new things, new tricks and racing against each other every weekend.
I am eternally grateful to the wonderful support I received from the members at Davey’s Bay Yacht Club. Everyone was so supportive in helping me learn to windsurf. Very shortly after I starting racing I started to win the races. Men and women of all ages entered. I vividly remember sailing towards the finish line and I was coming second. Another guy Ashley was winning the race and he was about 50 meters ahead with only about 200 meters to go. The finish line was just inside the cliff face where the wind started to shear away and get gusty. I naturally kept an eye on the wind and where the next gusts were coming from. I could see Ashley sailing a bit too close to the Cliff, even though it was a more direct route to the finish line. But there was less wind in there, so I decided to stay in the gust a bit further out, and then turn towards the finish line inside the cliff at the last minute. This paid off and I passed him and won the race. He had not seen me coming and was quite surprised to see me pass in front of him. There was no doubt he was stronger than me and had good windsurfing skills, but I was able to read the wind better on the day. I rushed home and told mum that I had won the race. Her comment was “Gee darling, were you the only one in the race?”
Such faith I thought. But mum and dad soon realized that winning the race at the club was a weekly occurrence for me. I then moved on to race the regional clubs and in those days 120 windsurfers would turn up to race, people of all sizes and abilities. I ended up winning those too, to the surprise of all the strong guys with the latest and fastest equipment. But again it was my ability to read wind shifts that enabled me to win the races. In the early days, a lot of the people who started windsurfing did not come from a sailing and tactical background with knowledge and understanding of the wind and so they could not quite work out why I used to win, even though I was 13 and they were 25.
From the beginning I always windsurfed with the guys and always aimed at beating everyone. Because of that I never saw myself as weaker or lesser ability by being a girl. And in the old days men and women raced together, but they were scored individually, so that you could be the ‘first woman’ or ‘first man’. When I was 14 I had the opportunity to compete at the Australian Windsurfing Championships in Adelaide. Mum and dad decided to make a family holiday out of it and we drove over to Glenelg in January that year. I had recently placed third in the women’s event at the State Championship but the Nationals were a little more daunting and the ocean waves at Glenelg caused me to come to grief on the downwind legs. Anyway, I met some wonderful fellow competitors who I became friendly with and I placed 8th that year. From 1986-1990 I won several Australian Open Championships. During that time I would go out and windsurf around all on my own as training and I had no coach or lessons or feedback from anyone. I just went about it on my own and did well, won and never really analyzed anything about my performance. I watched and learned and just did what I always did, felt how I always felt and had an unquestionable knowing that I was the best out there and that I would win. And I did. The space I was in when I raced was like being on auto pilot, I felt the wind, I felt when to tack or turn; I did not have to ‘think’ about it.
In 1988 the International Yacht Racing Union had managed to include Women’s windsurfing as a Full Medal Sport to be introduced at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. The men’s windsurfing event had been included in 1988, and the sport was an exhibition sport at the LA Olympics in 1984. In 1988 I was studying for my VCE (Higher School Year 12), in my final year of high school and I was ranked number 1 in Australia. I made a decision then that I would go the 1992 Olympic Games.
During my final year of High School I was windsurfing after school each night to train up for the World Youth (Under 19) Championships in Spain in July that year. I had been selected to go, and the whole trip was funded by the Australian team. It was my first international event and the standard was very high. There was a team coach which was new to me, as I had never had a coach before. He was a nice guy but mainly focused on the boat classes as he did not know much about the Mistral Windsurfing Class so he left David, my fellow male counterpart, and me to do our own thing. David was a brilliant windsurfer and he won every race at the Youth Worlds and I only won one, to finish 6th overall. I returned to Australia, back to homework and the world of school.
On finishing high school Mum and dad at the time were concerned that I get a proper education and not be side tracked by this ‘windsurfing thing’. But nevertheless I convinced them that I would travel for a year overseas, compete at some events, work and have some fun before I return the following year to start University. My first event after high school was in Palermo, Sicily. It was the World Windsurfer Team’s Championships where they have two men and one woman from each country. We made the final against the Sicilian Team and there was much cheering going on from the side lines for the Sicilian Team. A floatilla of boats came out to watch as we raced the best of three races. It came down to a grueling last race win, whichever team won would win the event. I was coming ahead of the Sicilian girl and all I had to do was cross the finish line and we won the regatta. However, the Sicilian team wanted to win ‘at all costs’ and Alfredo decided to sail downwind and try and stop me from crossing the finish line before Giarda, the female member of their team. Team tactics can get pretty nasty, especially in Sicily where the race committee did have a reputation for turning a blind eye to what was going on. There was much yelling as Alfredo came down and literally pushed his boom into my head to try and knock me off. In the end I dropped my sail unable to keep my height towards the finish line and Giarda crossed in front of me. It was pretty obvious to all the other teams and the jury boat that Alfredo had broken a rule. After much commotion and yelling, in Italian and English the protest flag went up. We had no choice but to protest. After two hours of testimony the jury awarded us with the win. This was a good start to my first campaign over seas winning the World Team Windsurfing Champs. From 1985 to 1999 I won a total of seven world windsurfing titles in the Windsurfer and Mistral Classes and thirteen Australian titles. There were many times where I felt in the zone and in my magic, where winning was effortless and enjoyable.
But there were times, particularly from 1994 onwards where I lost my magic and sense of feel. I had illness, injury and chaos which I could not pinpoint the origin of and the flame of my inspiration went out. By the time I retired in 1999 I was angry and exhausted feeling that I had never actually realized my dream of Olympic Gold, particularly when I knew I had the desire and the natural ability to achieve it.
On retiring from competitive windsurfing at the end of 1999 I launched myself straight into a corporate sales role. It was the first time I had been a full time employee in the corporate environment. During my windsurfing years I had run my own event management business and had been self employed since I was 17 so I was used to being my own boss. Within a year I realized that I was not suited to working for a large corporate and decided to go back and do contract marketing and sales work instead.
Up until this point in my life I had always lived with clarity of purpose. I made decisions and had the determination and drive to make them happen. But in 2000 and 2001 every thing I touched seemed to fail. Within 12 months my personal relationship finished, my health had deteriorated significantly and I had clients who failed to pay me which sent me into to the red financially. My stomach had swollen up, I had pain in my pancreas and liver all the time, my face had bloated up. I was now twenty kilos overweight. I felt terrible. My self esteem hit the floor. Financially I worked one sales contract after the other trying to play ‘catch up’ financially. I worked seven days a week. As a result I burned out completely – emotionally, physically and spiritually.
During this time I read every book I could find about health, psychology and spirituality. I attended workshop after workshop: including Qi-gong, emotional freedom technique, heart coherence, quantum physics, sacred geometry, spiritual manifestation and emotional intelligence. I was spending over twenty five hours a week on research. I was desperately searching for answers.
I then went to a doctor who practiced western and eastern medicine who threw the book at me. He told me that my body was shutting down. He said I was a toxic waste dump. My lymph system was not working efficiently. I had a build up of cancer cells in my body. He wanted me to go on his strict diet and have treatment each week at his clinic to get me back to health. At the time I had no money to even pay for extra vitamins, let alone weekly treatment. I was under huge stress and as a result had begun to drink too much alcohol. For a period of 8 months I had buried all my pain in drinking to numb myself from feeling.
When I left the doctors clinic that day, after he threw the book at me, deep down I knew that even if I did everything he told me to do it would not have made any difference. An inner voice told me I had to find the answer at the spiritual level. I felt that I would slowly die if I did not find the spiritual answer. And I felt so exhausted at the time that I did not really care if I did die. In fact at the time all I wanted to do was to curl up in bed go to sleep and not wake up.
My search continued and I went to a naturapath healer who did a chakra balance on me and helped clear my body at the astral level. This seemed to help me for a short while. Very soon after this I went to Sydney to meet a French lady who had a new electro-magnetic machine that could bring your spirit back properly into the body. I was willing to try anything at this stage. When I arrived at her clinic I held on to these two metal handles and she said my spirit was eight metres away from my body. In other words I was not spiritually grounded and balanced. Somehow she brought my spirit back into my body. Within two minutes my lymphatic system started to gurgle and move. I went to the loo about ten times that day emptying fluid. I certainly felt more grounded after her treatment.
But still a deeper part of me kept searching for answers. My stomach was still bloated and I still had constant pain in my pancreas, like a knife in my back. A year before I had prolapsed a disc and had a knee reconstruction to mend my ACL that I tore snow skiing. I had never felt the same since being on anti-infalammatory drugs for my prolapsed disc. These injuries had also caused me to lose confidence in my physical ability to exercise. As a result I had lost all the fitness I had taken for granted in all my years of windsurfing.
Finally I met a metaphysical counselor and mystic Yvonne Evans who also worked as a corporate coach in Melbourne. In one session with her she cleared my energy field (aura, mind field, at the astral and spiritual level). Immediately after she cleared my energy field my hips shifted back to their correct posture and the pain went from my pancreas. She told me to rest afterwards and I went home and had the deepest and most restful sleep I had had for a long time. A week later I had the first mystical experience that woke me up about the nature of the soul and past lives.
I was sitting in a coffee shop with Yvonne and we were talking about what could be the cause of my swollen stomach. We had discussed much of what had happened to me in this life including several operations I had had as a baby and child on my small intestine. (At four weeks old the doctors cut out one fifth of my small intestine because of a cyst. I then had plastic surgery on the scar tissue that spread right across my stomach when I was eight.) The answers didn’t seem to reside in this life time. Then out of my mouth came “I think I have been stabbed in another life.” Yvonne, being a mystic, was able to tune into my soul story and access the relevant information at that level. She said that I had been disembowled on a battle field as a soldier. I immediately felt a shiver up my spine as I saw flashes of this past life. I went home and went to bed. I felt exhausted. For over two hours this past life trauma was released from my memory at soul level. My body shook and trembled and contorted as the memory was released via the physical cells in my body. This is called a physical catharsis. All I could do was surrender to it and consciously allow it to happen. Meanwhile I had the visual images and memories of being disembowled. It was not physically painful, but extremely overwhelming and exhausting. After I released this memory my body literally morphed. My stomach went in three inches, all the aches and pains I had been feeling for two years disappeared. My face changed back to its normal state and I felt spiritually grounded for the first time in over three years. The physical change in my body was so profound that my neighbour saw me the next morning and couldn’t believe the instant change in my appearance. This was when I realized that if we change at the mind-field level, in this case at the level of the unconscious – the soul, then our body can change instantly. A friend of mine had also done this herself when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She tuned into her Soul Self to get the answers. She received the answers and released the energy (in the mind) that caused the tumour in the first place. She went back for an x-ray a week later and her brain tumour was gone.
I had read a lot of material including books by Dr. Valerie Hunt from the Bio-energy fields foundation and Professor William Tiller, head of materials science at Stanford University who all confirmed that mind precedes matter. I had read that we create our own reality with our thoughts and our feelings. But it was not until I connected with my Soul did I realize the truth, that yes, we create reality. The good, the bad and the great.
(Quantum scientists have confirmed since the 1920s that we create our reality. Spiritual mystics and teachers throughout time have told us that we in fact create our own reality. The mind/body/spirit and new age movement have repeated over and over again that what we think about, we bring about. It is only when we connect to our spiritual intuition do we realize the truth of this. The rational mind, or ego, cannot fathom that we create our reality.)
From this point on I was able to reconnect again with my spiritual intuition and inner guidance from Soul. I was able to wake up to all the unconscious themes that had played out for me in my windsurfing career. I realized that I had caused, or allowed in the chaos, illness and so called ‘bad luck’ at the unconscious level when I competed in windsurfing. I was responsible for it all. There was no such thing as bad luck.
During this time I had started to facilitate workshops on reality creation and transforming unconscious themes that were holding people back in their lives. My mystical abilities returned and I was able to assist others to heal past lives that affected their current reality. (A mystic is someone who can access information at the level of the Soul whilst remaining grounded in physical reality. Information at the Soul level vibrates at a higher frequency than the information we receive via our five physical senses.) I realized that two in three clients had deep Soul themes playing out for them that originated from another lifehood (or past life). Once we healed these deeper themes their reality would change instantly. They would be free of pain and fear.
My clairvoyance, clairsentience and clairaudience returned and I was able to communicate with the Arch Angels again. I had had this ability as a child but had lost it in my teens. This enabled me to help people heal physical ailments together with assisting them to intellectually understand the origin of their pain and crisis. I could vibrate them up so they could access this information and transform it to higher awareness.
I had read as much as I could find on emotions and emotional intelligence and one of the people who discussed emotions in a way that I understood them, and had worked with them, was Dr. Valerie Hunt. She too had helped people heal past life (or lifehood) themes. She understood the nature of emotions held at Soul level that were deep and profound and shaped all other perceptions and behaviour. In her book Infinite Mind she shares over forty years of research into the human energy field (the mind) and the spiritual nature of who we are. She stated that emotions were the organizer of the energy field (the mind). Her work greatly appealed to me as it blended the scientific research together with the spiritual, eternal, nature of who we are.
I realized that you could not change limiting beliefs, that resided at the subconscious and unconscious mind, by using the power the conscious mind alone. I discussed this with two friends who were both NLP experts and hypnotherapists who had also done the deeper spiritual healing work on themselves. They both agreed that you could not heal these deeper themes without going first finding the cause of the theme – the origin of behavior. You could use self affirmations until the cows came home but they were not going to change unconscious behaviour. Traditional psychology also did not discuss the nature of ‘past lives’ or the fact that we are multi-dimensional in nature. And most psychologists assist people from the perspective that they are victims of their reality, rather than the fact that they create their reality. So they treat the symptoms rather than the cause.
After healing my own Soul themes I was finally free from regret and the disappointment of never attaining my dream of Olympic Gold. I thought about all those athletes who had retired from sport never having realized their own dreams. If only I had understood and healed my unconscious themes (beliefs and emotional wounds) whilst I was at my peak in windsurfing. What could I have gone on to achieve if I did not have sabotaging behavior? I thought about those athletes that have ‘accidents’, ‘illness’ or keep coming second when they have the ability to win. If these athletes healed their own unconscious beliefs they could change their reality and performance quickly.
The times when I had won in windsurfing I realized were the times when I was physically, emotionally and spiritually coherent. When I felt in the flow where everything felt easy; I was spiritually connected. My mind was present and I was more in a feeling, rather than a thinking state of mind. To me being in the zone was a spiritual experience.
In 2004 I decided to write a book about the nature of ‘spirit in sport’. Rather than simply sharing my own story I wanted to speak to other athletes about their own personal experience of the zone. I was intrigued as to whether or not other athletes felt that the zone was a ‘spiritual experience’.
After speaking with other athletes I realized that each of them had their own understanding of how the mind works; their own relationship with their own mind, the Self, spirit, and a higher source or God. Some athletes referred to the zone as being fully prepared and doing the training necessary to win. Others suggested it was when they were able to mentally focus without chatter in their head. Whilst other’s shared that their experience of the zone was more a spiritual or an out of body experience.
In my book ‘Spirit in Sport’I share some of my experiences and those of fellow world and Olympic Champions about the zone in sport. There are times where I share my story from the perspective of me the windsurfer and there are times that I put my ‘teaching hat on’ and share it from my perspective now – Fiona the mystic.
From the perspective of an athlete I realize that all we really want to do as an athlete is achieve our dreams, whether it is to win, be top three or top ten. As an athlete I was totally focused on my training and competition schedule. I would plan for four years ahead, each Olympiad.
Whereas today I can look back in hindsight and have the luxury of seeing my windsurfing career through the eyes of my own Soul’s evolution. I understand the nature of Soul purpose, divine timing and the spiritual lessons I needed to learn.
Which leads me to pose the following questions:
What makes athletes great vs just good?
Are we pre-destined to be great, or do we become great? Why do some people have more chaos than others? What are our own spiritual lessons to learn in this life? Can we change our destiny? Can we fast track our evolution?
These are all questions that all of us ask at some point in our lives. Are the great athletes throughout time born to be great or is it by pure chance that they are great? If we view our life through the eyes of the ego self, or rational mind, we do not know. But if we connect to our Soul Self, our bigger story, we are able to feel our divine truth and Soul purpose, whether it is to be a great athlete or simply be a competitor and learn along the way. If we take responsibility for our own reality creation we can transform any unconscious themes that are getting in the way of winning much faster than if we deny we have them.
From the perspective of our Soul we choose the story of our life before we incarnate. At our highest level of play we choose the major events and wins in our sporting career and any chaos that we experience. Chaos provides the experience to learn and grow. For without chaos and challenge the ego experiences very little growth in consciousness.
We all have a bigger story, a divine Soul purpose with spiritual lessons to learn in this life. Sport provides a play ground for this learning, growth and self awareness.
I postulate that the ability to experience the zone in sport, and reproduce optimal states of performance over and over again, relates to a person’s level of consciousness. The more spiritually evolved we are, the higher our consciousness level. The more we can access power at the universal/spiritual level the more we can access the zone.
This brings us to the nature of authentic power vs force. When I personally accessed the zone state in my windsurfing I felt ‘spiritually powerful’, like I was connected to All that Is. In my book I have written about this as being Authentic Power as opposed to force where we feel we are forcing things to happen. Authentic power feels effortless.
When we compete with pure desire from the Soul and spirit we not only achieve greatness in sport we live a fulfilling and rewarding life.
I share my story and those of 15 other World and Olympic Champions in my book ‘Spirit in Sport. The book is for fellow athletes, sports coaches, psychologists and the sports fan who want to discover the ‘missing pieces of the puzzle’ in performance.

How to Write a Book in Just 3-30 Days Even if You Can’t Type
Do you have a book in you?
Well, I feel that everybody has a book in them. It’s just a matter of when you’re going to write it.
Do you have experience or expertise in some particular area? What about all your work/career experience, personal relationships, spiritual searching and studies, all the knowledge, all your life experience, the things that have helped you in life?
Perhaps you’re a computer programmer, you’re a single parent, you’ve been in sales, you know how to open a restaurant or a hairdressing salon. You know what NOT to do in relationships etc which mean you know what to do J! Right? Well, I feel that everybody has a book in them everyone has a story to tell or an experience to help people.
Perhaps you have a how-to book in you or it could be an audio program or video/DVD. It’s such an AWESOME way to help yourself have PR for your life’s work and/or business. Also having written a book will bring you 110% more credibility in the marketplace. So let’s begin ……………
How do we write a book Michele????
This process I am about to share with you is so simple and so much fun. My friend Wilma McIntyre and I wrote “Conversations on Money, Sex and Spirituality in just 3 days using my method. I have been using this method now for over 12 years. I made it up because when I wrote my first book I could not type. This process you can also use when you are going to create a motivational audio program or even a video. (Unless you can adlib to perfection. If you cannot adlib without um thrown in KEEP readingJ) As this method will help you become very clear and totally professional.
Even IF you do not think you have a book in you, writing out the following exercises will help you gain so much clarity on what you do want to do.
I have had MANY people complete this section at my live events, really not thinking they had a book in them and some ended up writing books very quickly with more enthusiasm and passion then they ever knew they had.
If you are reading this now because you DO wish to write a book, I have some GREAT and yet simple examples to help you get started OR to quickly improve the writing you are presently doing.
First of all, make a decision on what it is you choose to write about. For example, if I was in network marketing and I’d been in the business for a while and had success, I know that having a book on how to have a successful network marketing business would be tremendous for adding publicity and credibility about who I am. This can be handed out and also sold through your own Website, or other websites including Amazon.com, and through many other areas. If you do choose to self-publish your own book, which I believe is a wonderful, freeing way to begin a writing career, we’ll be covering that topic in another one of my articles on in the “How to Self-Publish.” For now let’s get the book written.
Further down, (print out the article) write down areas of experience in your life. List six areas of experience you have in life. For example:
· I have studied many spiritual books and been to many seminars and feel that I have a great metaphysical self-help book in me.
· I have experienced a great deal of success in sales, and would like to write a book on sales.
· I have a great deal of experience on how to bring up children as a single parent.
These are just a few examples to get you started, because starting is what it is all about. Go ahead and fill in six areas that you have experience in from career related experience to your personal and home life.
AREAS OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
Now that you have listed the areas of experience that you have, write the top three areas that you feel the most desire to write about.
TOP THREE LISTING FOR your Book, Audio Program, Product IDEA:
Next, pick your number one area.
NUMBER ONE AREA I WOULD LIKE TO WRITE ABOUT:
Okay, now you have the area you would like to write about. Whether it is fiction, non-fiction, a how- to – book, or a workbook, an audio program or even a video/DVD, next you are going to write down some ideas for your title. It makes it very, very easy so please do this with an open mind. Write down five ideas now, just off the top of your head. Don’t get too much into your left brain. Let the ideas flow through your right brain, and just write down anything you think of.
· How to Bring up Children as a Single Parent
· How to Increase Your Sales
· How to Eat a Healthy Diet in the Fast-Food Lane of Life.
Okay great!! So now you have some ideas! These are just working book title ideas; they are not in stone, they are not it yet. (Or one may beJ) This is just to get your juices/passion up and your creativity flowing. Later, you will come up with a great subtitle. These days, you can have quite an esoteric book title, but have your subtitle let the reader know what’s in it for them, what the benefits are.
For example, you will notice that all my MusiVation™ products have a very dynamic subtitle. In my audio program, Be Your Perfect Weight, the subtitle is Dynamic Psychological Breakthrough in Weight Control. As another example, the title of my 6-tape audio program is Affirmation Power, and the subtitle¾done as a top of the title subtitle¾is Be A Magnet to Success through [then the title] Affirmation Power. My best selling book I wrote with Rock Riddle How To Be A Magnet To Hollywood Success, is subtitled Your Complete Step-by-Step system to making it in Show Business. My book I co wrote with Wilma Conversations on Money, Sex, and Spirituality is subtitled How to Attract Multi-Dimensional Abundance in Your Life.
As you can see from these examples, if you show the people what’s in it for them through a well defined simple descriptive subtitle, then they know they are going to read a magnetic, powerful book before they’ve even started reading it.
Some of my titles are what’s in it for them, as well. For example one I wrote with Bob Proctor, Be A Magnet to Money is the title, so that’s basically telling them what’s in it for them. And then our subtitle is Dynamic Psychological Breakthrough in How to Attract Money. So having a double whammy in two very strong areas is very powerful.
Number one, your book title is telling them what’s in it for them, and Number two, your subtitle is telling them what’s in it for them.
However, that is simply your title. Now for the exciting part! You are now going to write out your table of contents.
I suggest you write ten areas, or ten chapters. This is a little more challenging if you’re writing fiction, however, I feel that just writing down ten ideas for your chapters or your book topics to start with helps tremendously in getting the juices flowing and keeps everything in Divine Order. You will see this clearly later on, after you write your ten topics.
Go ahead now and write ten topics on the next page. For example, if you were to write a book about sales, you could start your topics with:
· Is Money Everything?
· Love Your Customers
· Have a Positive Attitude
· How to Keep Keeping On
· Look Ahead, Not Behind
These are just a few ideas of book/product topic contents. Write down NOW ten- twelve areas. Sometimes people find such a great topic idea doing this that IT ends up being their new title, straight from their table of contents. Now go ahead and create your table of contents!
The next suggestion I’m going to share with you on how to write a book IS so SIMPLE. It came to me when I was working on my first book. I just find it so EASY to write a book or an audio program this way. What I do, is so very easy and fun (because remember, writing a book is FUN J)
Write ten questions for each topic. With these ten questions, ask a friend to interview you and treat it as if they are, someone who is a TV or radio show host (i.e., Oprah, Michele J) who is really interested in that particular topic in your table of contents, especially if it’s a how-to book or a non-fiction book. Simply write out the questions; these will be questions that you will answer for all areas that you already know about. Then, I suggest you start reading a lot of books about that particular topic and getting a lot of information into your mind.
You already have a lot of information in your sub-conscious mind that is just waiting to be released when it’s needed. With these questions, get a very good friend to interview you. Pretend it’s an interview show. Get a tape recorder, get them to ask you the questions, and then you just flow with it. Just answer the questions; don’t be nervous—no one’s out there listening to this! It’s just you! Ask your friend to please be very focused and not agree or disagree, or say, “Oh, yeah, that happened to me, too.” They are going to be a professional interviewer and simply be there, asking the questions. When you’re finished with one answer, they will ask you the next question. Do this for each topic; it’s so much fun! Next, type up what’s on the tape for each topic (or have someone type it for you). Finally, take out all of the questions; then just leave your answers. Then you have a whole chapter or topic for your table of contents done. Do this for all ten areas. Do not edit as you go, just take out the questions.
Once all ten topics have been done, go back and start typing. Add areas that you may not have had handy when answering the questions, for example, you may want to quote a particular person in your book. You may want to speak of the story of a successful person in your book. You can add that in later. What is very important to remember, whether you use this interview technique or simply go ahead and just write, is that you go ahead and just write! Every time you give yourself time to write, it doesn’t matter what you write, as long as you write. Don’t edit as you go. The editing can be done later. Too many people will never finish a book because they feel each area or every sentence has to be perfect as they go. Again, I repeat, DO NOT EDIT until you have finished and you have all the information written. Now you have your story/product written! Then edit later. Don’t even edit each chapter as you go. Just get every chapter written; finish that book. The editing can be done later, either by you or by a professional.
I also feel it’s wonderful, if it’s a non-fiction book, to write stories about how other people conquered those particular topics. Perhaps you can even interview some well-known celebrities. A lot of well-known, successful writers and entrepreneurs want extra publicity. And, it is free publicity for you. So, go ahead and contact these people. You’ll be surprised who knows whom. Email out to a whole group of friends, “Hey, does anybody know Richard Branson?” “Hey, does anybody know blah, blah, blah?” “Hey, does anyone know Melanie Griffith?” You’ll be surprised how many people will know someone who knows them. You know, they say, and I agree with this, you know who they are—they are us! They, which are us, say you are only four phone calls away from any person you would like to meet. And I do agree with this. Sometimes it may be five or six, but very rarely. Just take some action. That is part of networking, which is another chapter.
It is also a very good idea to write little example stories of the success of others or conduct a short interview with the actual people. You can mention on your book cover that these people are included. And then, at the end of the book, you can mention the person’s book and their Website and their contact information. People love this; it’s free publicity. I have been interviewed for many, other books. People always put my contact numbers; I love it! I would do it for anybody. If anyone wants to interview me, I do it. Anybody will do the same thing. It’s a very rare person who won’t do it. This way you also you get to be networking and meeting great people while you’re doing interviews. Priceless!!!! Call some people you’ve always loved to meet. It’s so good to always remember to be in the consciousness of the people who are already doing what you want to do.
If it’s a fictional book you’re writing, storyboard it. I suggest you create a mind map. Put a big circle in the middle and get all the characters written from that circle. For example, if it were Gone with the Wind, then “Gone with the Wind” would be in the circle in the middle. Then a little balloon off from that would be Main Character—Heroine. If you know you want a heroine, think of a name for your heroine. Offshoot that—what century is it written in? Is it Sci-Fi, or is it back in the history books of the 1400′s?
Storyboard all your characters. What type of characters they are, their characteristics, what type of personalities and looks? Allow the story to take on its own vision and flow. When you storyboard, mind map a fictional book, and put it up on the wall, it really gives you access to great ideas, because you’re mystically saying to the Universe, “This is what I want to write about—give me ideas.” And it will come to you!

Though her life is hectic, Moriya tends to the connection to her soul daily, moment by moment, as she bounces email and faxes in cyber space for most of the same work-reasons we do. She tends to this connection while she edits manuscripts and theses for a select few professors in Jerusalem. She tends to this connection while neighbors drop in unexpectedly and through the incessant ring of the phone.
“Typing,” she says, “as a mechanical task equalizes the spiritual side in me.”
With peace and acceptance in her heart, Moriya deals with the rub of every day life in Jerusalem – a healer of this the world, but no longer quite in it.
She, herself, is convinced that her soul will keep her shielded from discomfort and unhappiness until the time of her death which, last time we talked about it, was expected to occur in her eighty-sixth year, twenty-two years from now.

Understanding the concept of being in the present, in the moment, in the present-moment, simply means being aware of ourselves within the endless string of random and boring little moments that connect our all major ones – the happy ones and the devastating ones – like the many small breaths that connect each of the *big ones*.
v
On the one hand, our *big-breath moments* are the sharp-edged moments we live for while, on the other, they are the gate-crashing moments against which we have absolutely no protection and no way of keeping out; the bad news, the dark moments, the metaphoric blows to the head, in their myriad of forms.
To put it another way, being aware *in the present* is what fits neatly within the space caught between two words: alert […] passivity.
v
I Need To Wake UP
Have I been sleeping?
I’ve been so still
Afraid of crumbling
Have I been careless?
Dismissing all the distant rumblings
Take me where I am supposed to be
To comprehend the things that I can’t see
Cause I need to move
I need to wake up
I need to change
I need to shake up
I need to speak out
Something’s got to break up
I’ve been asleep
And I need to wake up
Now [6]

Being in the present moment simply means observing ourselves in the tiny little present that in truth is the ephemeral present. We are aware of it, but let’s not give it a name. Let’s not qualify it or our response to it.
The present moment that links breath-to-heart only needs to be made tangible and quantified – acknowledged, but not judged.
It does not need to be labelled in any way, for the minute we slap a label on that tiny, bubble-thin moment, the minute we give it a rating, that moment is
already of the past and we have missed *being* in it.
v
I have read it in enough books to accept that being in the present simply means
shutting out the monkey-chatter, the relentless flow of random thoughts that are not part of any problem solving process – it is about shutting down thoughts that invade our brain the minute we stop talking.
v
Actually, I will even go as far as to suggest that most of our talking – en masse, as a society – has evolved as sabotage against being present in the moment and in favor of robotic responses to our buttons being pushed.
“We always think our negative emotions are produced by the fault of other people or by the fault of circumstances. We always think that. Our negative emotions are in ourselves and are produced by ourselves. There is absolutely not a single unavoidable reason why somebody else’s action or circumstance should produce a negative reaction in me. It is only my weakness.[sic] No negative emotion can be produced by external causes if we do not want it. We have negative emotions because we permit them, justify them, explain them by external causes, and in this way, we do not struggle with them. “ [7]
v
“Here is a little story that could have been found in the back pages in The Jerusalem Post,” said Moriya in her usual light-hearted manner. “There had been an accident on the highway during peak hour traffic and a lot of cars were stopped bumper-to-bumper. People left their vehicles to have a look along with others who came out of nowhere to get closer to the action, as people like to do.
The scene of the accident was very crowded. A journalist who happened to be there tried to get closer himself, but couldn’t because of all the people rubbernecking. So, he thought about it for a while, and finally he came up with a brilliant idea. He started to push his way through the crowd shouting, “Let me get through! Let me pass! I am the son of the victim! It is my father out there!” Immediately the people parted to let him through. Once the journalist, camera held above his head, reached the scene of the accident, he saw that the victim of the collision was a donkey!”
v
Films are popular mostly because however improbable the plot, the characters supposedly react as we would.
The next time you are settled in front of your screen, observe the characters as they go about their business, supposedly our daily business, and decide how much thought goes into any of their decisions.
Have their buttons been pushed and they react on impulse, even if embarked on a course of action after a quick tete-a-tete with their brain?
All things equal, how would your actions/reactions be any different?
v
Are these characters doing a knee-jerk tit-for-tit or tit-for-tat or are they present in the moment, energetically contained, operating from a balanced view of themselves?
v
Being in the moment simply means that once we have quietened our mind, we only need to focus on whatever it is we are doing at any specific moment – the moment under our feet.
When I first learnt to rollerblade, I can guarantee that from the moment I would get up on my blades to the moment I unlaced them, I was totally *in the present*. Ninety-nine percent of the time. No other way but. The second I would take my mind off the stride, I would invariably end up on my bum.
Whoever remembers the absolute focus that seized our brain while on our first driving lessons knows what it means to be present in the moment.
Oppose the novice’s alert awareness to the zoning out that usually overpowers experienced drivers when we cruise on the highway, or even in our back streets. Compare it to the blanking out that takes over as we scan supermarket aisles – which may well be the same zoning out that overpowers us as we lift food to mouth over breakfast. It may well be the same as the blanks we bring home, even after a sedate get-together with friends when we only remember some snippets of the conversations and the general look, perhaps taste, of the food we ate, but we can’t remember what the person facing us was wearing or what else was going on around us – provided no one created a scene.
v
Being in the moment can even be made fun as we look at EVERYTHING the way a tracking ranger would observe every branch, twig, scrape in the dirt and inspect every animal dropping to get meaning out of the scene in front of her. Except that, ideally, being in the present moment means that the looking and the analyzing are done through our soul’s eyes, not our 21st century brain. In this lies the challenge that karma presents to each one of us – the line in the sand that not many wish to cross.
v
Being present, in the moment, simply means understanding that whatever we are doing – want to do, or feel we ought to do – might have to be put on hold or even postponed indefinitely.
Such is the cosmic wisdom in which we need to trust since we, little blind mice that we are, have no idea of the fine mesh that settles invisibly around us until it holds us in its snare of spiritual lethargy.
v
Below an abstract drawing of what can only be that of a bloated frog, bearing a slight resemblance to Jabba the Hutt, is a thought left dangling by Alan Watts: “If you think by sitting you can become a buddha …” [8]
v
OK, so I understand the theory, but I find the practical application, the day-to-day application of the theory very, very frustrating. Shouldn’t being aware of ourselves within our present be as natural as breathing?
For me, it is as easy as breathing under water.
v
If I attempt a rating of the inner contentment I feel, I can only rate it a puny 5 out of 10. And that is because the amorphous lump of anxiety that sits heavily in the area of my solar plexus acts like a lead apron that smothers even my relatively carefree moments.
It is the price I pay, very much unwillingly, for not recognizing the unique newness and freshness of each moment as it presents itself.
The more I think of this, the more I understand that each one is, in fact, as fresh as the proverbial morning dew.
However, I can categorically say that some moments have an imprint that
seems very familiar. They look and feel and just about taste like ones that have already been played – over and over.
These moment bring on an “uh-uh! Here we go again” gut reaction.
v
Like the ocean, our ego-persona appears to be smooth enough on the surface. It absorbs. It hides what churns below. It deals – up to a certain point. But our
ego-persona has great limitations. Unlike the ocean, it is never renewed. It only relies on past memories. The past is static and memory is fallible.
v
Reality check#1: no such string of seconds, strung one after the other, has ever presented itself to me in the past.
Not as it presents itself to me now.
Not as it will present itself tomorrow.
The irony of it is that I respond to most *new* moments within each *new* day through the jumbled and sticky mesh of past experiences.
Put simply, I deal with today-moments as I dealt with yesterday-moments.
I taint them with the same energy spikes.
How comforting is it to me knowing that I am not alone in doing this?
v
Resolution: “Let’s not drink Today out of yesterday’s mug,” dixit C.C.
v
Being present in the moment means that I cannot let writing absorb all of my time and all of my thoughts.
As I type this text, there is a workman on our patio. He is adjusting the slant of our gutters. I am standing by to hear his call through the screen door, as he will want to explain this and that about the state of the rusted guttering and how he proposes to repair it.
Should his call catch me in mid-sentence at the keyboard, I will hit ‘save’ and I will get up.
It will be my cue to practice stilling my mind long enough to listen to what this workman wants to tell me and be in the fresh moment that has just presented itself to me.
If Moriya were here, she would know how to decode this man’s *chitchat* about my gutters to give me a string of messages of symbolic spiritual relevance – such is another of her gifts.
“Hello?” A man’s voice calls out from the patio. “Are you there?”
Drums are one of the few, perhaps the only, musical instruments to earn a very unique distinction in human culture. Not only are they utilized for the traditional purpose of music, but they have been put to other uses as well. One of the most interesting of these alternative uses is that of music therapy. Music therapy is an approach that uses music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals. The American Music Therapy Association defines this type of therapy as “the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship.” There are claims that music therapy can promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication and promote physical rehabilitation.
Although many might assume that drum therapy is a fairly recent advent, this is not necessarily the case. Some proponents advocate that drum therapy is an ancient technique and evidence of its history may be found in both Asia and Africa, where some of the world’s oldest civilizations reside. While it may be true that drum therapy has been around for thousands of years, it is also true that in the 20th and 21st centuries, science has been used in an attempt to verify the therapeutic effects of drum therapy and its rhythm techniques. Much to the delight of drummers everywhere, some studies indeed show that drumming accelerates physical healing, boosts the immune system, produces feelings of wellbeing and even has a calming effect on people suffering from Autism, Alzheimer’s and various traumatic experiences.
Drums, especially those played with the bare hand, are often used in music therapy for two reasons. One, they are exceptionally tactile in nature and two, they are easy to use. This combination makes them ideal for therapeutic situations. The act of drumming is believed to help people express and address emotional issues that may be otherwise difficult to face. It allows the drummer to create an external and almost physical manifestation of whatever frustration they may feel inside.
Drum circles are a popular form of music therapy. In such a situation, each person is able to express themselves through their individual instrument while simultaneously participating as part of a larger whole. Such groups can range from just a few people to literally thousands of individuals. Drum circles have no beginning or end, no top or bottom. Such a construction places every participant on equal footing, another important component in a therapeutic situation. Drum circles may be facilitated, meaning that they are, to some degree, guided by a facilitator who encourages the participants. The circles may also be anarchic, possessing no formal leadership or moderation.
Drum circles may also have a spiritual focus, which for some is an important component of therapy. The practices most commonly associated with drum circles are Neo-Paganism, sometimes referred to as Wicca, and those of the Native American people. The drum circles of Neo-Pagans can also involve changing, singing, poetry and spoken artistry and are generally anarchic. Those of the Native Americans are usually facilitated by a shaman who uses the music of the circle to enter a trance or go on a spiritual journey.

Imagine uttering a simple pattern of sacred sounds – and discovering that they promote physical healing, magnify the powers of the mind, and even attract abundance into our lives. Extraordinary? Yes. Yet this is precisely what happened to the yogis of India when they first created the science of mantras, or “sacred sound formulas,” over 4,000 years ago. Concerning spiritual gifts and herbal healing: Do some people really feel these are evil in and of themselves?
As a Catholic Christian I know that there are many spiritual gifts. Indeed many of our greatest saints were blessed with these. I know of others as well. Also in the Catholic Bible we have scriptures as to the use of herbs for medicine and healers. We do not call these evil. Do some of you?
Peace Be With You,
Debra
Ezekial 47:12 And by the torrent on the banks thereof on both sides shall grow all trees that bear fruit: their leaf shall not fall off, and their fruit shall not fail: every month shall they bring forth firstfruits, because the waters thereof shall issue out of the sanctuary: and the fruits thereof shall be for food, and the leaves thereof for medicine
Herbs have been around since the Garden of Eden. Herbs are not evil. In fact, God put them here to help us. My grandmother often used herbs to heal her family and friends. Many modern medicines are made from herbs. My grandmother came here in 1912.Before the age of antibiotics and other modern day medicines. She told us that in the “old country” their very existence depended on knowing how to heal every day injuries. Remember, people could die from a cut that was infected before antibiotics. The knowledge of herbal medicine was crucial to people back in her day. She was very knowledgeable about the practical application of herbs in medicine. She was also Catholic. People with spiritual gifts are NOT evil.

Now, with Thomas Ashley-Farrand’s Healing Ma…

Try eliminating egos. The goal is to eliminate 50% of egos so you don’t need to go through anymore life cycles.
Meditation is the first step followed by astral traveling.
From there you can attend schools on the astral plane, along with temples and learn from spiritual teachers.
Healing: spiritual art 2 KAZUKI OKADA healing art & spiritual music
Spiritualist churches and centres up and down the country offer “Spiritual Healing”, where people are invited to come in and receive healing from a healer. The form this takes may vary, but usually involves someone sitting on a chair while the healer moves their hands around their body. Many people have said it really makes a difference to their lives. Some report it has cured or alleviated ailments conventional medicine hasn’t been able to help with. Any views or experiences about this?
i meet a man who traveled the world doing it. he was originally a bodyguard for famous people and then he began to work with refugees from other countries who had been tortured and it was so overwhelming to him that he seemed powerless to really help the people and then one day this healing power started to work thru his body. i’m sure i’m not telling the story exactly correctly but that is take on what he said. / even if i hadn’t met him i think that spiritual healing is logically possible but i also think that many people who claim to do it are psychopathic frauds.

Monsters and Magical Sticks: There’s No Such Thing as Hypnosis
Many individuals throughout history have attempted to explain the phenomena through different means. In this paper I will show the path through history that hypnosis has taken, and the contributions and effects that individuals played along the way. For this paper hypnosis will be defined as: “… the art and science of using verbal and nonverbal communication patterns to assist another individual in going into an altered state of consciousness (Dilts, 2004).”
Uses of hypnosis or trances in healing have existed for quite some time. Glasner (1955) writes that “although it is impossible to state with any definiteness that hypnosis is referred to in the bible and in the Talmud, there would seem to be considerable evidence that the authors of the works were indeed familiar with the phenomena which we today should call hypnotic or which we should explain in terms of suggestion(Crasilneck, Hall, 1975, p.5).” In Egypt the Ebers papyrus, over 3000 years old, describes how Egyptian soothsayers used hypnotic procedures similar to those practiced today (Kroger, 1977, p.1). The hypnotic phenomena have existed in many contexts.
Paracelsus who lived from 1493-1541 and who developed the mercury cure used magnets to heal others by passing them over their body. His beliefs in terms of explaining the healing he witnessed was due to the magnets effect on ones astral body. The astral body was considered to be a metaphysical body. The astral body would have an effect on our physical body. When the astral body would be out of balance, diseases would then become apparent. The magnets function was to influence the energy in the astral body to be back in balance. Having your astral body in balance would play a large role in removing disease and regaining health (Chips, 1999 p.22).
Father Maximilian Hell who lived from 1720-1792 used magnets to heal as well. Hell’s technique was slightly different, in that he would directly apply the magnets to the patient. Hell had a large influence on one of his students, Franz Anton Mesmer; Mesmer had his own magnets made. Mesmer as often times was done for an illness at that time would do bloodletting. Mesmer used the magnets he had made after the bloodletting was done. What often happened when Mesmer would make the passes would be that the bleeding would stop. One day Mesmer went to get his magnets and they were nowhere to be found. Not being able to find them Mesmer picked up a stick nearby and made passes with it, the bleeding stopped (Sheehan, Perry, 1976, p.3).
Mesmer believed that the influence of the stick was really emanating from him. He termed this influence as animal magnetism. Animal magnetism was the same type of magnetism that came from the magnets he had used. However, rather than emanating from magnets, animal magnetism emanated from humans. The animal magnetism Mesmer believed had a similar influence as the magnets magnetism. This explanation for the effect was later to be a problem for him, because there was no way to measure the animal magnetism. Mesmer also believed that this animal magnetism could be transferred to objects.
One of the objects Mesmer transferred his magnetism to was a nearby tree. With Mesmer’s techniques he had quite a bit of success. Because of Mesmer’s success a French board of inquiry was set up to investigate his claims. In 1784 Mesmer invited the French academy of science to study his methods. A commission was set up including nine members including a botanist Antoine Laurent, the chemist Lavoisier, the doctor Guillotin, and Benjamin Franklin. One of the procedures they watched was Mesmer healing a boy simply by telling him to sit under the tree he had magnetized. The boy was cured (Chips, 1999 p.24). The commission studied the events, and they were convinced something was happening.
Mesmer however had attributed the success that he had with patients to his theory of the effects of animal magnetism. There was no way for the commission to measure the animal magnetism, so, no way for the commission to attribute scientifically the animal magnetism as to the agent of treatment. The commission decided Mesmer was a fraud and the effects were not due to animal magnetism. Instead, the commission decided the effects were due to the use of imagination and suggestion (Chips, p.24).
The commission left an impression in their report that a crisis was a major part of the “most general aspect of the cure.” A crisis would look similar to convulsions, and often times include crying or laughing by the patient (Weitzenhoffer 1957, p.278). However, there are conflicting reports as to if it actually was a major part of the cure for Mesmer (Sheehan, Perry, 1976, p.10). Mesmer’s work as the result of animal magnetism was now discredited, so Mesmer went back to Vienna and died in poverty and seclusion in 1815 (Chips, p.25).
A description of Mesmer’s Method is given by Bramwell:
Mesmer put his hands upon the shoulders of the subject, then brought them
down the arms to the extremities of the fingers, and, after holding the thumbs a moment, repeated this process two or three times. He also touched the seat of pain with his fingers, or with the palm of his hand, following the direction of the nerves as much as possible Mesmer employed a species of actual handling or passes with contact…(Bramwell, 1930, p.40)
Mesmer, with his notion of animal magnetism, placed the influence on the operator. The mesmerists believed that the phenomena happened by various physical means, such as fixed eye gazing or pass with contact. The eyes and fingertips were thought of as powerful projectors of the magnetism (Bramwell, p.40). The operator would influence the subject, and there is little talk of the relationship being two ways.
Not until Erickson do we see a balanced mutual relationship between the operator and subjects exist. The influence was through physical means, and through physical means that a cure would happen. Influence through physical means is a key belief about mesmerism.
A follower of Mesmer and a French Military officer Marquis de Puysegur expanded upon the theories and influence of Mesmer. Puysegur became trained in Mesmer’s method and obtained his own set of magnets as well. One night de Puysegur was called to one of the peasants on his estate named Victor Race who had been suffering from inflammation of the lung (Sheehan, Perry, p.16).
De Puysegur magnetized Victor whom began speaking to de Puysegur in a manner that was not usual for Victor being a peasant to speak to his “superior” de Puysegur. What was more interesting was that Victor was unable to recall this or other events that subsequently would happen under this magnetism. To describe that experience Puysegur coined the term somnambulist (Sheehan, Perry, p.16).
Puysegur took victor to Paris to demonstrate the phenomena. After doing so Victors condition worsened. While magnetized Victor told Puysegur that this was do to him often times being in front of disbelieving crowds. From the experiences with Victor and others, Puységur came to beliefs that magnetic effects depend on the force of the magnetizer’s personal belief in the efficacy of magnetic cure. In addition to the will to cure, and rapport with the patient. De Puysegur was also the first to record the reaction now known as hypnotic amnesia (Chip, 25). Puysegur also discarded with the need for a “crisis” to occur (Sheehan, Perry, p.17).
In 1784, Puységur wrote Mémoires pour servir a l’histoire et a l’établissement du magnétisme animal, a work which can be considered the point of origin of modern psychotherapy (Wozniak, 1995). With the influence of Puységur, Mesmerism spread rapidly. “In the United States it arrived from France with Charles Poyen de Saint Sauveur and became allied briefly with phrenology and more extensively with spiritualism, eventuating in the New Thought movement that exerted an impact on William James (Wozniak, 1995).”
Abbe Faria came to Paris from India gave public exhibitions of hypnosis, without any magnets. He is said to have hypnotized over 5,000 people. The beliefs that Faria held in regards to the phenomena was that it was not due to magnetism but to the expectation and cooperation of the patient. Faria also believed that some people were more easily able to go through the process. “we cannot induce concentration in individuals whenever we desire; rather we find people who are inherently susceptible (Kroger,1977, p.2).” Faria theory as to a physical reason why the phenomena worked with some and not others was influenced by contemporary medicine. Faria believed that thinness of the blood was a condition necessary for someone to have, in order for them to be susceptible to hypnosis (Sheehan, Perry, p.22).
Faria believed strongly in the power of suggestion. This is shown in Faria’s belief that taking a medicine that was not effective but believing in it working, is better than taking a medicine that is effective and not believing in it. (Sheehan, Perry, p.24)Faria however, lacked medical training so his views were given little clout in scientific circles. In addition, Faria had failed to recognize an actor during one of his demonstrations so was ridiculed for that as well. However, much of his views of magnetism and its workings were ahead of his time, in that the beliefs of the subject are important in order for hypnosis to be successful (Sheehan, Perry, p.19).
James Esdaile while in India wrote a book called “Mesmerism in India. Esdaile practiced in India from 1840 to 1850. Esdaile’s book outlined Mesmerism being used in India for the use of pain control in eighty-two major surgeries. After Esdaile had performed over a hundred operations using mesmerism he placed the results before the government in Bengal. A committee was set up to investigate mainly medical men. The committee’s report was favorable (Bramwell, p.14).
After receiving the report the government replied back that “… to place Dr. Esdaile for a year in charge of a small experimental hospital, in some favorable situation in Calcutta…” A small hospital was set in Calcutta, and Esdaile’s mesmerism was just as successful here with his patients as he had been (Bramwell, p.15). A year later the medical officers reported that complete insensibility to pain was gained from the effects of mesmerism, even in the most severe operations. Before Esdaile had left India he had performed thousands of operations using mesmerism, including nineteen amputations (Bramwell, p.16).
When Esdaile got back to London he began advocating for the use of Mesmerism for pain control; this was before the use of chloroform. For advocating mesmerism Esdaile received a lot of criticism from medical authorities. Esdaile’s work was also attacked in the medical journals. “It was asserted that the coolies of Bengal enjoyed being operated on, and that, knowing Esdaile’s hobby, they came from all quarters in order to please him. Esdaile was described as an honest fool, who was deceived by his patients” (Bramwell, 17).
Around the same time as Esdaile, John Elliotson (who had invented the stethoscope) and was a professor of medicine at the university of London also advocated the use of mesmerism for surgery. Elliotson also experienced the same ridicule for his use of mesmerism. In 1843 Elliotson started the Zoist, a journal for the information collected relating to mesmerism (Chips, p.27). Operations by Esdaile in India were recorded in the journal. The journal played some influence in the opening of a Mesmeric Infirmary in London. The journal lasted for thirteen years (Bramwell, p.8). The topic of mesmerism for pain control may have stuck as a debate, however, chloroform was discovered shortly after, and was accepted much better than mesmerism.
Esdaile’s Method was to put the patient in a darkened room, directing them to close their eyes, and to try to sleep. Esdaile would then make passes over the body and from time to time breathed on the head and eyes, it was continued for about an hour (Bramwell, p. 40). According to Elliotson and Esdaile, the phenomena of mesmerism were result of action of a physical nature that was transmitted form one being to the other. The mesmeric influence Esdaile said ‘was a physical power one exerted over another (Bramwell, p.275).”
In London James Braid a Scottish physician saw a demonstration of mesmerism by LaFontaine in 1841. After seeing the demonstration by Lafontaine, and others after it, Braid began thinking of how the effects of mesmerism were reached. He started his investigation by first making the assumption that animal magnetism did not exist. Braid eliminated all the factors but the fixation of the eyes that causes trance, and coined the term hypnosis (Weitzenhoffer p.281).
Hypnosis means nervous sleep from the Greek god hypnos, the god of sleep. Later Braid realized that hypnosis was not sleep and tried to change the term but it had already stuck. Braid wrote the first book on hypnosis in1843 called Neurypnology. Braid and his book Neurypnology became very popular. Eight hundred copies of his book were sold in a few months (Bramwell, 23).
Braid’s method of hypnosis was to take a bright object and to put it about a foot in front of the patient’s eyes slightly upward. The patient would then be instructed to simply look at the object. Braid would then extend his had toward the patients eyes, which would usually close at that point. If the eyelids did not close the process was usually completed again with more instruction (Weitzenhoffer p.281). Later on Braid changed the method slightly by telling the patients to close their eyes early on in the process (Bramwell, p.41).
Braid’s belief on what causes hypnosis to occur was changes in the nervous system usually caused by staring, fixed attention and suppressed respiration. They were not due to the volition of the operator nor to the transmission of a physical influence (Bramwell, p. 41). He also believed that these changes were independent of the rapport between the operator and subject.
Towards the end of Braids career he believed that the results were due to what he referred to as monoideism. Monoideism is the focus of ones attention on a specific thought. With the later framework Braid believed that direct verbal suggestion was the best method for inducing hypnosis, and that physical methods were simply indirect suggestion. (Bramwell p.279) With James Braid he began with a more physical view of the phenomena although later in his career began to take on a much more psychical view.
Ambroise-Auguste Liebeault a physician used hypnosis for a variety of medical conditions. Liebeault met Hippolyte Bernheim through one of Bernheim’s patients who had sciatica. The patient had left Bernheim to be treated by Liebeault. Liebeault cured the patient and Bernheim then set out to prove him a Liebeault a charlatan. Bernheim became intrigued with what Liebeault could do and they soon formed the Nancy school of thought (Chips, p.28). In 1886 Bernheim published the second part of a book entitled La Therapeutique Suggestive. From that point Liebeault’s name became known throughout all over the world. (Bramwell, p.31)
Bramwell (1930) gives an account of the method he witnessed Liebeault use in Nancy, France.
“The patient was first placed in an arm-chair, then told to think of nothing and to look steadily at the operator. This fixation of the gaze was not maintained long enough to produce any fatigue of the eyes, and appeared to be simply an artifice for arresting the attention. If the eyes did not close spontaneously, Liebeault requested the patient to shut them, and then proceeded to make the following suggestions, or others resembling them: “ Your eyelids are getting heavy, your limbs feel numb, you are becoming more and more drowsy,” etc. This was continued for a minute of two; then Liebeault placed his hand upon the patient’s body, and suggested the sensation of local warmth” (Bramwell, p.41).
The Nancy school, as we can discern from the description above seemed to use a technique similar to what Braid in his later years began to champion. In the description above there seems to be a predominant use of direct verbal suggestion, such as “Your eyelids are getting heavy.” In addition to the direct verbal suggestion there were also indirect physical suggestions used. An example of this would be the fixation of gaze in order to call attention. The Nancy school of thought emphasized hypnosis as being psychological phenomena mainly through suggestion and suggestibility. (Chips, p.28)
Jean-Martin Charcot around the same time set up the Salpetrier school of Hypnosis. Charcot had a large amount of authority and reputation and did much in the field of hypnosis to make research respectable. At that time Charcot felt the most important way to put hypnosis onto sound scientific ground was isolate as many physical characteristics of hypnosis as possible. This influenced a large part of Charcot’s work. (Weitzenhoffer p.282) Charcot divided the phenomena of hypnosis into what he called ‘hypnotic syndromes”.
The “hypnotic syndromes” were divided into three fundamental types, a cataleptic, a lethargic, and artificial somnambulism (Weitzenhoffer, p.283). For each syndrome Charcot had a method for eliciting it. Most of the elicitations involved fixed eye gaze, which was often times at a bright light (Weitzenhoffer p.284). Charcot’s belief was that hypnosis is a hysterical disease state and only happened in people who were sick. Many of Charcot’s theories were based on working with only about a dozen hysterical patients at the Salpetrier, an insane asylum (Kroger, p.3).
Sigmund Freud went to study with Charcot in Salpetrier, and Bernheim and Liebeault in Nancy (Kroger, p.3). After studying hypnosis Freud stopped using it for clinical purposes. The reason Freud stopped using hypnosis allegedly was that hypnosis was too volatile to use and stripped the patient of their defenses (Kroger, p.3). Freud often cited an example he had with a young female patient whom jumped up and tried to kiss him (Crasilneck, p.8).
Another reason not publicly mentioned but believed to have been an influence in Freud’s decision was Freud frequently used cocaine leaves between his cheeks and gums to control pain, a common practice at that time. This eventually led to the destruction of his gums, which caused his dentures to fit poorly. Because of this, Freud slurred and could not speak clearly enough to lead people into hypnosis (wikipedia.org, 2004). Freud also could not produce consistent results, and could not get to sufficient depth in hypnosis. At the same time Freud was in competition with Josef Breuer whom was quite compitent at using hypnosis and who Freud had worked with earlier on (Chips, p.29).
From Freud’s studies of hypnotism, he began to formulate his theories of “talking therapy” and the concept of modern psychology was born. One example of this was an incident when he was working with Breuer. While working with a patient whom they referred to as Anna O they noticed that Anna did not consistently respond to their technique of direct symptom removal. They noticed that some of her symptoms had parallels with experiences from her past. The symptoms also diminished while under trance Anna was able to recall the memories. This was part of the foundations for Freud’s ideas about the value of catharses, and the beginning of Freud’s psychoanalytic theories (Crasilneck, Hall, p.8).
At this time Freud had finally made a psychological treatment and theory of disease popular that hypnosis could fit into. This however was not to be so, Freud stated that “psychoanalysis…only began with my rejection of the hypnotic the technique” Thus for a long time Freud and his followers avoided hypnosis. Hypnosis without a framework left both its practice and theory to those who were desperately fighting the insights of psychoanalysis. Freud later credited hypnosis for driving him in the right direction, along with subtely suggesting it has some use in the therapeutic setting by combining “the pure gold of analysis plentifully with the copper of direct suggestion,” including hypnosis (Bernman, Gill, 1971, p.10).
After Charcot’s death in 1893, the scientific study of hypnosis declined greatly. In the surgical fields chemical anesthetics were used. In the treatment of psychological disturbances the rising theory of Freud’s psychoanalysis was used. There were little places for hypnosis to exist. Hypnosis continued with some people such as a contemporary of Freud, Pierre Janet. In addition, William James explored hypnosis in his investigations. Hypnosis stayed for the most part in the background with little investigation until World War I. The World War caused interest to develop in hypnosis while looking for techniques to treat traumatic war neurosis (Crasilneck, Hall, p.8).
In the 1930’s with Clark Leonard Hull at Yale the research and investigation into hypnosis began to pick up again. An experimental psychologist, Clark’s book called Hypnosis and Suggestibility (1933) was a rigorous study of the phenomenon, using statisical and experimental analysis. The main result of Hull’s study was to rein in the extravagant claims of hypnotists, especially regarding extraordinary improvements in cognition or the senses under hypnosis. Hull’s experiments did show the reality of some classical phenomena – hypnotic anaesthesia and post-hypnotic amnesia; hypnosis could also induce moderate increases in certain physical capacities and change the threshold of sensory stimulation, attenuation effects could be especially dramatic (wikipedia.org, 2004).
Hull had a saying about trance that began putting a new light on hypnosis. This was that “anything that assumes trance causes trance.” Hull believed that the essence of hypnosis is the change in suggestibility. Hull believed that the effect that verbal communication had during a hypnosis session was that words are stimuli, which cause something in the subject. This was different than the Nancy school in that for Bernheim and Liebeault the words themselves were ideas (Shor, Orne, p.181).
One of Hall’s students had a large influence on the field as well. This student was Milton Erickson. Milton was trained as a psychiatrist and practiced hypnosis from 1920-1980 almost daily. Erickson later came to disagree with Hull on the important issue of fundamental approach, stressing the complex subjective inner processes operating in hypnosis, rather than the measurable correlates and standardized procedures promoted by Hull (Stark, 1993).
Erickson’s work began to change the perception of what hypnosis was. Erickson’s belief was that the job of the hypnotist was not to add suggestions but rather to de-hypnotize and call up potential that we have. Erickson also believed that we all had the capacity to go to into trance.
An example of Erickson’s induction method I will give below and is from Hypnotic Realities (1976). The induction is what Erickson referred to as the “Early Learning Set” induction. It is an example (only part of the session) of a conversational induction that Erickson often used (Erickson, Rossi, 1976, p.5). However, I must stress that what will be shown is just the verbal technique employed by Erickson. There is much more involved as described in Patterns in the Hypnotic Technique of Milton Erickson 1 and 2. In the example in parenthesis I will put an explanation for what the wording is meant to accomplish, so the reader can get a feel for the precision and grace with which Erickson practiced; much of it is from Hypnotic Realities.
“Look at the far upper corner of that picture. The far upper corner of that picture. (to begin to place the patients critical faculty away) Now I’m going to talk to you. When you first went to kindergarten, grade school, this matter of learning letters and numerals seemed to be a big insurmountable task. (eliciting a previous learning) To recognize the letter A to tell a Q from an O was very, very difficult. And then too, script and print were so different. But you learned to from a mental image of some kind, You didn’t know it at the time but it was a permanent mental image. (truisms to gain rapport, and possible to elicit mental imagery to facilitate trance) And later on in grammar school you formed other mental images or words or pictures of sentences. You developed more and more mental images without knowing you were developing mental image. And you can recall all those images. (eliciting mental imagery to focus conscious attention) Now you can go anywhere you wish, and transport yourself to any situation. You can feel water you may want to swim in it. You can do anything you want. (a suggestion to have critical faculty somewhere else) You don’t even have to listen to my voice because your unconscious will hear it. You unconscious can try anything it wishes. But your conscious mind isn’t going to do anything of importance. (to further separate conscious mind so can communication with the unconscious can begin).”
Erickson recognized that hypnosis is a state of mind that all of us are entering spontaneously and frequently as part of our normal behavior pattern. He utilized this phenomenon in conveying his suggestions in a covert way, by an exciting and innovative use of language (Simons, 2002). Many of Erickson’s inductions “… are based upon the utilization of the subject own attitudes thinking, feeling, and behavior, and aspect of the reality situation, variously employed, as the essential components of the trance induction procedure (Shor, Orne, p. 370).
Traditionally, the hypnotist was left out of the descriptions of the relationship to Erickson the hypnotist was a key part of the relationship. Erickson helped hypnosis to become commonly accepted, and he also did a lot of work to frame hypnosis in a way that combined the schools of thought about hypnosis that existed at the time (pathological verses psychological). Erickson said that hypnosis is “a naturally occurring psycho physiological phenomenon” (Chips, p.33).
Following Erickson, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, amongst others, have studied and codified his subtle techniques in the development of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or N.L.P. From their work among others, effective models of how to allow and encourage others to experience trances are being developing (Chips, p.35). The models allow one to easily learn the subtleties that can be used as a reference for inducing a hypnotic session.
As Erickson says about the models presented in Patterns of the Hypnotic Technique of Milton Erickson, by to developer of NLP Bandler and Grinder. “…It is a much better explanation of how I work that I, myself, can give. I know what I do, but to explain how I do it is much too difficult for me. …Long overdue is the fulfillment of the need to recognize that meaningful communication should replace repetitious verbigerations, direct suggestions, and authoritarian commands” (Bandler, Grinder, 1975, VIII).
Dave Elman in the 1960’s played a large role in creating a way that the use of hypnosis in the medical fields could be done easily in a manner of minutes. Elman created many rapid induction techniques. Elman had beliefs about hypnosis that resonated with many of those put forth by Erickson. Hypnosis is merely a state of mind, a mood “hypnosis is a state of mind in which the critical faculty of the human is bypassed, and selective thinking established” (Elman, 1970, p.26). A simple technique that Elman used during demonstrations to highlight the previous concept would be the following:
Elman would have the subject imagine they are swimming in order to get the critical faculty focused on something. Then he would ask, “Can you see yourself swimming?” This was to keep the critical faculty on that aspect. When the subject would say “yes” Elman would tell them that so long as they continue to see themselves swimming nothing would bother them (to establish a selective thinking in this case for obtaining anesthesia) (Elman, p.28).
Elman believed that you teach the subject how to go into trance state, by stimulating imagination; hypnosis is not power over the subject. The phenomena will only occur if the subject is willing; they will then react to suggestions. Elman believed that anyone could be hypnotized, and that what stopped him or her was fear. The introduction of fear causes a defensive reaction that brings the critical faculty back into focus (Elman, p.26).
Leslie LeCron was a Clinical psychologist who advanced the use of hypnosis as a therapeutic tool to the populist, with his book Self Hypnotism: The Technique and its Use in Daily Living in 1964. The book teaches how to be able to do many of the same therapeutic techniques as one would receive by someone else doing the hypnosis. LeCron and his work with Cheeks did a lot of work promoting and expanding the use of ideomotor signals.
Ideomotor signals are using physical manifestations to stand for signals to be communicated by the unconscious. For example it is setting up a finger to move for yes, and a finger to stand for no. So the unconscious can communicate rather than going through the conscious mind, and a verbal system. Rossi (1988) makes a case for ideomotor signals led to a new path for mind-body research to occur, and expanded the uses for hypnosis to those that can not communicate verbally.
In 1980 a field called psycho-neuro-immunology (PNI), the conduits through which our emotions and thoughts may affect our health came into prominence. A major influence in this was Dr Ernest Rossi. In his early years Rossi worked with and co-wrote many papers with Milton Erickson. In 1986 he published a major book, The Psychobiology of Mind-Body Healing (wikipedia.org)
Rossi’s research into psychobiology and state dependent learning has resulted in a large number of publications in which he describes the mind-body pathways, and applies hypnotic techniques in utilizing these pathways to bring about healing. Much of the work by Rossi in conjunction with Erickson’s work created a space for the physiology (behaviorist) schools and psychological schools to coexist in our understanding of the hypnotic phenomena (wikipedia.org). “These breakthroughs are providing a new research database for conceptualizing state-dependant memory, learning, and behavior, as one of the major psychobiological foundations of therapeutic hypnosis (Rossi, Cheeks, 1988, XIX).”
At this time there is a large amount of research to give hypnosis a verifiable place of its own as a valid psychological tool, for altering ones existence. This is not merely by suggestion as previously thought, but by influencing the body directly. From Mesmer to Erickson the context and theory behind hypnosis has changed. Mesmer began with the phenomena being the result of one individual influencing another individual through animal magnetism. The style of influence had little to do with who the patient was.
One hundred years later Elliotson and Esdaile still retained much of the original explanation for the hypnotic phenomena, believing the influence was due to a power on exerted over another. However, their technique had changed, among other things, there was no crisis involved in the treatment, and there was an encouragement towards a sleep state.
James Braid around the same time attempted to look what it was that actually caused the phenomena to happen. In order to do this gave us the term hypnosis. By holding his inquisitive stance Braid later changed his theory, to one much closer to the theory of today. Braid’s later theory became similar to that of Liebeault and Bernheim which many consider to be the founders of modern day hypnosis (Kroger, p.3). At this point there was enough of a foundation for the elegance in hypnosis that Erickson gave to the field to exist, along with simplicity and ease of use that Elman and LeCron contributed. It is from that elegance and simplicity that hypnotic phenomena are allowing us to see through some of the work of those like Rossi a greater understanding of who we are and how we exist.

My personal healing will never be the most convincing proof of our powers subconscious. Almost eight years, I found a near-death experience with the healing power of my subconscious that I did, and still maintains and governs all my functions vital. And there's more! At the age of 43 I became a mother, that by itself it's not unusual that many women these days to choose to have children thoroughly later in life. What makes it special for me, a year before my son was born, I was alone. My father, son and I had decided to break. We liked a lot of heart, but our age difference is 15 years younger than me, and differences in culture, religion and our education was too much, and if our Battle won beliefs! I was devastated and could not find a reason to pursue in life. I shared my frustration with God in my prayers and asked for help. During these prayers, I developed the habit of writing input, is written without conscious thought or other words, I automatically wrote the words that have been raised. In these letters, I told my lover and I would return and I would get pregnant with our son. 42 days later I received a phone call My man asked me to come "home" and have a baby with him. I went and got pregnant. Is not God's power is incredible?
I also want to talk about my personal healing, I am sure it will help others to trust the same Infinite Healing Presence, presented in the unconscious depths all of us.
In 2002 I was diagnosed with a dangerous virus. This virus called CMV attacked my body in many ways. I infected my brain, my left arm and infected my liver and kidneys. My doctor told me I had the opportunity to only 5 percent survive this ordeal. There is no medicine to cure this virus and I sent home.
After this experience, and despite all the concerns I, I realized that thought "death never entered my mind. I was in the "future" to be in good health and happy, and basically I "knew" that this is true! During the time of my recovery, which took me about two years, I went to see a doctor of homeopathy that I have done all sorts of "natural support falls and clean the liver and kidneys. Homeopathy is the art and science of healing methods that are safe, soft, natural, homeopathic remedies are derived from raw natural resources of vegetables and animals and minerals. While some remedies are used in a diluted But the broader aim, the drugs are highly diluted A greater impetus is suspected of having some, as yet unidentified, physical energy that helps to boost the body's own healing. I realized that my illness was the way I thought about myself and life, and I had to change my perspective on things. From then began my research, I wanted to know According to scientists and doctors to cure himself and God. About prayer and thoughts have an effect on his life. I started reading philosophy, spiritual and scientific books and articles. After a year of sleep, around May 2003 I felt strong enough to participate in a three-year course the "rebalancing", where I learned that all the impressions of everyday life are stored in the physical body, whether good or bad. As in my case, the "Bad" impressions literally "hit" on my door. The idea behind rebalancing is that all wisdom resides in the disposition of his body and the body is his home. To "hear" the wisdom you need a clean body and mind. It was obvious to me that the contact between my body and my mind must be restored, to find the root cause of my physical pain and disease. I learned to think that helped calm my mind and with massages, yoga and breathing exercises I accepted and slowly came into my house (the body). Another very important thing I learned is to try and put aside my emotions. Because of my illness, I think the way back to the voice in my heart, I call "God." I sat in prayer in my daily routine that reminded me everyday conversation, I used to have to "he" as a child. But as I got older I just "forgot" my dear friend and my fears have increased.
I began to analyze my thoughts and dreams gather "evidence" and writing all my results below. I realized that all I'm asking because he has given and what I've learned to be very specific on ask. The experience of life has beaten them both healthy and negative thoughts become reality, especially when they are supported by a strong feeling or desire.
In the analysis of my thoughts and transform negative thoughts into positive thoughts, practice on the control of my emotions that help me all the noise that comes to mind. I try to be alert and be fully and remain in the "now." Sometimes when I manage to keep my body and mind at the time, I see how easy and peaceful life is, and how my body reacts to be very relaxed. This made me understand the influence of my thoughts to my body and feelings, the thoughts I want to say the past or the future and begins to bark about things I do in the next week, immediately notice tightness in my body ..
Through prayer do I restore the link between my heart and my head. The law of life is the law of belief, beliefs, and could be summarized as a thought in your mind. My thoughts, feelings and beliefs, constitute the state of my mind, body, and circumstances. Analysis of my thoughts helps me understand what I'm doing and why I do things.
In essence, please respond is the realization of the desire of his heart. I pray and express my wishes and recognition several times a day before continuing my daily routine. I mostly pray before going to sleep and when I wake up. At this time the pace is slower in the brain to let my mind quiet and asleep. This "dream" state is called "theta brain waves. The subconscious is demonstrated by neurologists receptive to new ideas and information for the period of the theta wave. I also want explain the importance of the role of unconscious healing and improving the quality of your life.
The creative power of your subconscious
Your subconscious is your book of life. What is printed on the subconscious is expressed in their outward life. The subconscious is the invisible force that mediates and directs all involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, breathing, growing your hair and nails, metabolism. It is the hard disk memory where all the automatic thoughts, habits, behavior and responses are seated. Because the subconscious is the slave of our order, or conscious, we do what we say or consciously trying to do and give. The information on this hard drive is mounted in the first six years of his life. During these six years of operation the brain of a child in a hypnagogic state of consciousness to copy and learn the basics of life. The meaning we give to our experiences in life because of our belief systems. The subconscious is the creator, which is part of our spirit of imagination and the power of imagination has no limits. Anything we can conceive or imagine can be created. All great artists, thinkers, inventors and learn to use their powers of imagination in the subconscious. When we allow our imagination to be dominated by fear, can produce disastrous results because what we imagine may arise. Your subconscious does not discriminate. He does everything possible to create what you imagine or picture. We will work with the same intensity for us to create the negative image that we submit and positive images. The good news is our subconscious mind is always ready and willing to charities follow our instructions. And we can always change the way we use our imagination. We can choose cultivating our imagination to create that remains our greatest asset. The subconscious acts as a bridge between the conscious and the level of the creation of the mind that is our direct line to God. All the answers and problems are also held in regard to the creation of the mind, and every time we choose to be quiet, we can access the answers to our questions. Developing a relationship with our higher wisdom is one of the most beneficial things we can do for ourselves. This wisdom top has different names, soul, spirit, higher self, and is often regarded as a kind of intermediary between a man and the Creator .. Most traditions spiritual to say that there is a higher wisdom within us that can be achieved through prayer. The only thing that these traditions have in common is that you must enter into a calm state of mind (theta state), for example in prayer in order to access into higher wisdom. In this state the subconscious mind is receptive any new information given. Your subconscious never sleeps incredible. So when you decide to change your mind who you are, your subconscious is at your service. All you need is to believe that you deserve, desire, commitment, and silence.
My talent has been revealed a dream
As a child at the age of ten I liked to draw, but because many derogatory comments my teacher I have come to believe that I was not good enough, and I gave up. Thirty years later, I received a dream in my dream I saw myself doing an effort of beautiful designs. Although excited and overwhelmed the discovery of this gift I do not understand how this could happen suddenly. Then (still in my dream), I heard a voice saying: "You must continue you have a talent for illustration."
I immediately woke up and wrote everything down. (At this point I was a booklet and a pencil next to my pillow.) In a way this dream was different, and what if the message is true? Determent and glad I bought my car crayons and paper. But I had no idea where and how to start and before we know all sorts of questions came to mind. I realized that I had to be first in silence and began to meditate. I thank God for showing me sleep with my new talents, and gradually my mind and my body relaxed. When finished my drawing, my husband and his brother arrived. They were surprised to me, both in the design and took a look at what he was doing. My brother, I turned to my husband with a big smile and said, "Man, what on earth gives him eat! "Today, I have an online art gallery or if you prefer, you can see my work.
The functions of the subconscious mind as the messenger that carries all our thoughts Level creation of the spirit that I call God. When we are relaxed, an open communication channel between the conscious and the subconscious and God. When we are in a deep state of relaxation, communication between these spirits is at its clearest and most powerful. Communication with the Creator in both directions. Not only do we talk to him, he communicates with us. An example of communication from God through the unconscious and consciousness is intuition called. We all have hunches and "gut feelings" that seem to magically pop into our minds. The thoughts and imaginative insight from God as a rail.
One thing led to another and intuitively in my Internet search, I entered a site with lessons metaphysics of science. Never heard of metaphysics, but I knew it was something I had to investigate. Reading development of the site that gave me Goosebumps covered my body. I felt like a happy child in a candy store. There were many interesting topics Choose! My decision to enter the class was fast. Through this education I think unexpected at the bottom I was looking for. I do not know what to do with my life, though there were many things I like to do, but obviously not enough, and more sad but true, I saw "as a person who had no brains to study. Recently, I spent my masters and my doctorate!
Scientific discoveries
During my research, I managed to find more information that helped me understand life and my healing. One among many scientific articles I read was the finding in our DNA and genetics to explain all the influence my thinking was to my recovery. But first we must understand the role of our DNA, and that's what I found in Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia " DNAis a nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and some viruses. Paper major DNA molecules is the long-term storage of information. "
Recent developments in science are heralding an important cell turning point in evolving.
For nearly fifty years have taught medical students (and still are) our health, character and destiny are genetically determined, a concept known as genetic determinism. Today, a radically new understanding takes place at the forefront of science. Cell biologists now recognize that the environment outside the universe and our internal physiology, and most importantly, our thoughts and perceptions the environment, directly control the activity of our genes.
Conclusion
There is freedom to allow the circumstances being what they are and people are, whether you agree or disagree with them. So how in the world accept people and situations they represent something that does not? Or they want the opposite of what you want? We tend to think that we can not have both. So what do we do? We push back! And however, the understanding of the Law of Attraction – Everything you focus on attracting more that – when they focus not what we want in an effort to defeat or resist not what you are allowed to flow to you.
In other words, be more selective about where you consciously choose to focus. Instead of joining the resistance of something you do not want or agree with, flip your thoughts about what he wants and who "always yes motto
Happiness is often considered a mood. This assumption is both good and bad. It's just because when you're happy, happy thoughts in mind general. You have a positive attitude and their mood is generally high. His vision of life is a message of hope and abundance.
What I propose is that happiness is a state of being. This has to do with perception. Their mind constantly gathers information about their environment through their senses. Their perception of the view does not exist in the eye, there in his mind. Your brain and translated into electrical impulses sensory information.
If you can not change your perception of the world into a positive experience, then Happiness can be unlocked continuously. Of course, there are moments in life that make us happy. If you live in a state of happiness, other emotions such as sadness is not as deep and sustainable. You return to your state of happiness much quicker if they grow.

There was nothing like the Robeson sound, ever. To describe his deep, rich, perfectly equalized instrument is futile. Go instead to “Balm in Gilead,” the opening track, and see if you can listen to the last pianissimo phrase without falling to pieces. Robeson was at his best when the music was slow and the words contained spiritual or social messages. Faster, lighter fare like Kern’s “I Still Suit…
The basis of self help is that everyone has the capacity to improve his or her own life and needs simply to plug in to that power inside of themselves. The first awareness of the self-consciously driven power to help oneself appears in Self Help by Samuel Smiles, published in 1859. In a direct, take charge approach that would become synonymous with the term “self help” in later years, Smiles delivers the opening line of his book: “Heaven helps those that help themselves.” And it seems that, as they say, the rest is history, as self help books seem to be more popular than ever; books such as Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life and Dr. Phil’s line of books stay at the top of the bestsellers’ list often for years at a time. Clearly what people are seeking in these books they are finding, as self help books are an ever popular genre. Marketdata’s research shows that the self help market was worth $8.5 billion in 2003. The self help industry includes a variety of tools and materials including motivational speaking seminars, self help books, self help hypnosis CDs, computer programs, personal coaching, weight and stress management. The first in what has become a huge market of self help books was Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, published in 1936. Carnegie had failed at a series of careers until he wrote his book investigating the role of self-confidence in relationships and its correlation to success. People could relate to Carnegie’s honesty and realness, and bought 50 million copies. Self help books cover a wide spectrum of subjects- a 2008 search on Amazon.com for “self help books” yielded 170,557 results. The highest number of books in any category is for Religion and Spirituality, but there are self help books about romance, photography, cooking, parenting, and virtually any other area where you’d care to help yourself. A popular line of self help books is the “For Dummies” series. These seek to demystify a wide variety of topics by providing an informally written guide about anything from grammar (English Grammar for Dummies) to Catholicism (Catholicism for Dummies), and most any other subject you’d like to know more about. Self help is most definitely a trait reinforced in us from birth… how else would we learn to walk, to read, to make friends? It should come as no surprise that we would want to continue to help ourselves the older we get. And with access to things like self help books and self hypnosis CDs, it seems improbable that we’d ever have a good reason to stop helping ourselves. About the Author

With lovely handcrafted beads, natural healing stones, powerful metals and intentional crafting, spiritual healing jewelry is wonderfully appealing, as well as physically, emotionally and spiritually healing. Inspirational jewelry is ideal for rejuvenating your spirit, balancing energies and adorning yourself with artisan-crafted pieces that are imbued with healing energies.
Energy healing is one of the world’s oldest forms of medicine and has been practiced for thousands of years throughout the world. Long before the invention of instruments with the ability to measure the vibrational energies of healing stones, ancient healers and societies were intrinsically aware of their capacity to heal and used a wide array of stones in their everyday lives and practices. Seekers of healing were often provided with a necklace, amulet, bracelet or other piece of metaphysical jewelry with a specific combination of metals, stones and natural elements to help them overcome spiritual, emotional or physical ailments or blocks.
The energy vibrations and subtle healing abilities of stones used in psychic jewelry vary and are connected to various emotions, areas of personal development and parts of the body. The stones used in handcrafted metaphysical jewelry are commonly chosen for their specific capacity to balance particular energies or open certain chakras in a manner that is beneficial to the wearer. The use of energy jewelry in healing practices has been passed down through the generations of traditional and spiritual healers and is widely used today, including the increasing popularity of bestowing inspirational jewelry upon a loved one who needs healing, or simply to express our affection and concern for their overall spiritual well-being.
Apart from giving artisan-crafted spiritual healing jewelry as gifts, giving yourself the gift of inspirational jewelry and wearing it in your everyday life is a wonderful way to promote centering, inner peace, personal growth and balanced energies, as well as a great way to invest in your spiritual and emotional well-being. Selecting a piece of spiritual jewelry that you are particularly drawn to is an especially empowering experience and assists you in focusing your intentions and putting forth your openness to and acceptance of the healing energies each beautiful stone offers. Whether you seek centering and inner peace, enhanced self-expression or healing for a physical illness, metaphysical jewelry with natural elements and healing stones can assist you in achieving personal growth and well-being.
Whether you are in need of wisdom from sodalite, luck from aventurine, confidence and courage from tiger eye, centering from black tourmaline, dream amplification and awareness from lapis lazuli or protection from agate, spiritual healing jewelry is a convenient and attractive way to include the healing properties of these stones into your daily life and to enjoy their subtle energies throughout each day as they provide beautiful adornment.
One of the intriguing aspects of selecting the spiritual jewelry that is just right for your or to give as a gift is that there are simply no wrong decisions.
